About Paddington

Paddington is a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia's inner city.

The suburb has a population of 8,562 at the 2016 census.

Paddington is located 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) west of the Brisbane CBD. It  is built on a range of steep ridges and hills, as is typical with many suburbs in the city.

History of Paddington

The wooded hills and ridges were the domain of the Turrbal Aborigines, recognized as the clan of the Duke of York by British settlers.

Throughout the early days, Aborigines camped in Armstrong Terrace throughout Armstrong's Paddock.

Paddington continued to be a European working-class suburb in the 1930s, when parts of Sydney such as Redfern and Glebe became hubs for Aborigines entering the labour-force.

Tourist attraction in Paddington

A perfect day out is to visit the Paddington Antique Shop, which was set up by 45 expert dealers at the old Plaza Theatre and its house.

There is a wonderful and continually evolving collection of antiques from jewellery, glassware, pieces of art, games, clothes and furnishings.

Schools in Paddington
