About Gordon Park

Gordon Park is a residential suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The suburb  is about 7.8 kilometres from the Brisbane CBD. It is U-shaped, bordered by Kedron Brook on its south and east.

History of Gordon Park

Gordon Park took its name after General Sir Charles Gordon. He was the hero of the eight-month siege of Khartoum in Sudan in the late 19th century. The streets in the suburb such as Gordon Street, Khartoum Street, and Baker Street were mostly related to General Gordon, the armies he served with, and their sphere of operation.

During the 1980s-1990s, Gordon Park was reduced from a suburb to a locality, however it regained suburban status in the late 1990s.
