About Camp Hill

Camp Hill is a residential and an eastern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is approximately 6 kilometres south-east of the Brisbane Central Business District.

History of Camp Hill

The name of Camp Hill was thought to have originated from the teamsters who camped at a waterhole near Whites Hill in the suburb's south while travelling between Brisbane and Cleveland.

Originally, the settlers in the area were farmers and it was in the 1880s when a real land and housing boom began. Also, by the early postwar years when Camp Hill became a developing suburb.

Tourist Attractions in Camp Hill

Camp Hill has developed notable parks including Lavarack Park near Stanley Road.

It features children's play equipment and a short walking loop, and Perth Street Park which provides play equipment, BBQ facilities and a fenced dog park and backs onto the Camp Hills Bowls Club.

There’s also the  Whites Hill Reserve, which includes a large modern children's play area, BBQ facilities, sports fields, and bushwalking tracks where native wildlife can be seen.

Schools in Camp Hill

Camp Hill has numerous kindergartens and preschools, as well as a government primary school for boys and girls. These include Camp Hill State Infants and Primary School that can be found at 676 Old Cleveland Road.

The Whites Hill State College, a government primary and secondary school for boys and girls. Also, St Thomas' School which is a Catholic primary school.
